Designed for industries where hygiene comes first
Becker’s range of Kito ER2 food-grade electric chain hoists has been specially developed for safe, dependable lifting in contaminant-controlled and corrosive processing environments, where hygiene, reliability and operator safety are critical.
These compact electric chain hoists are particularly well-suited for food and beverage manufacturing, as well as pharmaceutical processing plants, where lifting equipment must conform with stringent cleanliness requirements and help minimise the risk of product contamination.
Engineered to meet the highest hygiene standards
“Kito food-grade ER2 series electric chain hoists – with capacities from 0.5 t to 2 t – meet exacting quality, hygiene and safety standards for lifting equipment used in sensitive production environments,” states Rick Jacobs, Senior General Manager for Consumables, Becker Mining South Africa. “In industries such as food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing, every component in the production area needs to be carefully selected to ensure safe, clean and efficient operation.
“An important feature of these hoists is the use of NSF H1-registered food-grade lubricants on the load chain and in the gearbox. This makes the units suitable for facilities where incidental contact with products may be a concern.”
Kito food-grade ER2 electric chain hoists are available as single-speed units, as well as adjustable two-speed and dual-speed models. These options enable users to select the most suitable configuration for each lifting application, from simple vertical handling to tasks requiring more controlled positioning of loads.
Safety that protects
Safe and stable lifting is essential in any processing environment. To ensure hoists remain in optimum condition and continue to operate safely, it is important they are inspected, tested and maintained regularly by trained specialists. A fail-safe brake ensures reliable stopping power and a heavy-duty TEFC fan-cooled motor enables continuous operation.
Built for long-term reliability
Kito food-grade ER2 hoists are available in standardised bronze, silver and gold feature packages, allowing customers to select the level of hygiene, corrosion resistance and component protection best suited to the specific application. Bronze provides a practical food-grade base specification, silver adds enhanced epoxy-coated and stainless steel or nickel-plated components, while gold offers the highest level of protection for demanding washdown, high-hygiene and corrosive environments. Customised configurations are also available where required.
Together, these features ensure dependable performance in demanding applications where equipment is exposed to regular washdown routines, moisture, dust and corrosive atmospheres.
Moisture management
The aluminium die-cast body is tightly sealed to shield the motor, friction clutch and electrical contacts from direct low-pressure water sprays. The unit features a nickel-plated load chain, white epoxy-painted body and hooks, and stainless steel hardware to prevent rust and degradation often caused by cleaning solutions.
Washdown protocols necessitate acid-free cleaners to protect components, with immediate re-lubrication of the chain and load sheave required after intensive cleaning cycles.
Certified for confidence
Kito ER2 hoists are designed with Grade 80 case-hardened chain and have an IP55 environmental protection rating, which assists in guarding against the ingress of dust and water. The range also complies with recognised international electrical, safety, performance and environmental standards.
Compliance gives customers confidence that these hoists adhere to CSA electrical certification, ASME B30.16 safety requirements and ASME HST-1 performance standards.
Optional corrosion-resistant components
For applications where additional corrosion resistance is required, Becker offers suitable hook and trolley kits.
The corrosion-resistant hook kit comprises a stainless steel bottom hook, rubber cushions mounted to stainless steel cores or plates to help prevent rust and chemical degradation, and nickel-plated stoppers on the no-load side. On 0.5 t and 1 t units, the rubber cushions are also mounted to stainless steel cores or plates and used with nickel-plated stoppers. The kit for 2 t hoists includes a stainless steel chain spring and limit plate.
Optional corrosion-resistant trolley kits include stainless steel trolley wheels, stainless steel guide rollers and a nickel-plated suspension shaft and suspender. These components are designed to enhance durability in harsh or high-hygiene environments, ensuring consistent operation and extended service life.
Flexible installation options to suit facility requirements
Mounting options include hook, plain trolley and geared trolley configurations for improved efficiency, while single-speed and dual-speed motorised trolleys provide enhanced load control. Units can be mounted perpendicular to the beam as standard, or parallel to the beam where space is limited.
A range of accessories is also available from Becker to improve convenience, flexibility and protection in service. These products include stainless steel, plastic and fabric chain containers, as well as protective silicone pendant covers.
A complete lifting solution
Becker’s extensive Kito lifting range includes manual and electric chain hoists, as well as lever blocks, all designed for reliable operation, enhanced safety, ease of maintenance and long service life. These units are suitable for diverse applications, including high-frequency lifting and long-lift operations.
Becker supports its Kito hoist range through technical advisory, repair, testing and back-up services. Hoists can be tested at Becker’s workshops or through certified repair centres, helping customers maintain compliance, reliability and operational safety. Kito food-grade ER2 electric chain hoists are available nationally from Becker Mining South Africa and through its carefully selected distributor network.
